Trips April 17 to 30 (Beginner)

It still may be a bit cold this time of year, but for the fool-hardy, post your interests in trips here. Specify canoe/kayak, dates and level.

hey gang,
I am new to the club and was just curious what specific days would a beginners trip be held.
Also, i know this is a ways off, but is there a chance a begginers trip could be held on either the weekend of May 12 or May 26 (or both)? Is it plausable? Are rivers still enjoyable so to speak? Again, i understand its a ways off, no answer is needed immediately, just figured i would thow it out.
Let me know,

Dorian

sorry,
just regarding that first comment above, the original question about specific dates was referring to possbile trips between April 17 -30 as there is a chance i can attend somewhere between April 27 and 30 if something is going on.
Thanks
Dorian

The upper saint is close to being paddleable, at 15.3 cms right now. Dave Roscoe and i were thinking about going down it in a dingy if it doesn't get there. If anyone wanted to check out the river with us, or just get out and get some fresh air, let me know. Leaning towards sunday, maybe saturday, depends on when i go to the boat swap, and who's interested.

stream team says ideal flow for the upper st.mary's is 31. But what kinda flows are necessary for a good play spot at cave wave?

scott - i think we wait for nicer weather for an inflatable boat trip. (and more water)

I think cave wave comes in at about 30 but that is just a guess. It has changed a bit the last couple of years and needs higher flows to be up to much. Double trouble however has gotten much friendlier at all flows.

For park and play the belly surf wave just below the bridge is another option. It may take an hour or so to throw the rocks back into place in the eddy fence though.

I'm headed to the kananaskis on sunday for a surf. Anyone interested in carpooling? I am tired of doing that long drive solo. I have a small car but probably room for 1 or 2 more people/boats.

I'll just be playing at green tongue since I'm on a board not a boat so you might want to hook up with someone else to do the full run. The water is on 10-6.

Chris - I'd be available to help build the belly wave jetty back up sometime (especially if it means a decent early season wave closer than the kan)

Janson and I have been talking about getting down on the Belly to build things up as well. We also want to take a pry bar down to the weir like drop and open up the middle to make it safer for beginner paddlers. If flows don't get up for this weekend, and if Clay doesn't head South for Bear Creek, that'll be where the party is.

I will be doing a basically flat water paddle on the kootenay over by settlers flat road. If any one is interested, they may be able to reach me on my cell at 653-7447. It will be fairly short though. A long drive from lethbridge unless you are in the area. However Radium is a nice side attraction.
