Interest in 2 day Kananaskis River Trip

Well the season is about finished. Rivers are getting really low and the snow is finally about gone from the mountains. BUT I am not ready to give up paddling this season, so I want hit the Kan for a couple of days on a weekend trip. It will probably be a Friday and Saturday session. If you have an interest in going please let me know. Just leave your comments and a possible weekend that you can go. It will probably be around mid-late August!

Just so people know... the Kan is a Class II/III playboating river!!!
Its about a 45 minute paddle STRAIGHT through, but if you plan to surf and play then it can take up to 3-5 hours. All depending on how much playing you do!

That sounds like FUN!! I would be up for it maybe the 15-16 weekend or even the next weekend but it would be the Sat and Sun which is the 23-24. So lets make this happen! Troy

The kicking horse is still flowing at a very strong medium. The Main Fork of the Flathead is also at a low medium. I may be into iether of those as well, say Aug 7 or 8.

Hey paddlerz,

We've been busy with work out in BC, Montana & Idaho - lots of paddlable rivers to the west.

Elk is always good - lower Elk canyon will be a II+ with the first boulder garden (Roller Coaster) at III or III+ and Horizon Line a single hit III+.

For a treat, the Main Flathead from Kerr Dam down is a warm, big-water III with a super surf-wave (Eagle) and the final bigger rapid (Buffalo)is usually III+ or IV.

We were along the Kootenay and saw a number of Alberta cars with boats at the Kootenay Falls section. Falls are a serious hit and the reach below has about 4 IV's in 1.5 km - very considerable. Excellent flows right now.

Bull canyon should still go but it'd be getting low (III+).

Upper White's low (III).

and lots more!

Go west,

Stew & Di

So things haven't panned out too well for paddling the kan this month, but we could shoot for the 30th? I might no tbe able to do much more than 1 day, but we will see when we get closer!!! If possible it would be the 29th and 30th, but as of right now just the 30th!
