Trips April 28 to May 4

I just wanted to open a spot for posting trips for the next week. My brothers and I are planning for the Belly on Saturday... Chris introduced it to us early this week, and it has provided a couple of fun, early season paddles already (see Chris' comments on previous "Belly" post). If Chris stays back form Calgary this weekend, he may take us down Middle Fork instead.

The weather is inviting, and it's time to get wet. Please use this post to either join up with a planned paddle or let club members know of an adventures that you wouldn't mind sharing.

Happy Paddling!

Hey Nathan, I need to get the ORCKA book back from your brothers. Could you have them give me a call so I can pick it up or they can drop it off?

thanks

Mark, I'll give Stacie their cell numbers. If they don't contact you, you can get after them that way. I know Janson works 'til 7 tonight, and Ethan doesn't usually get into Lethbridge 'til then either, so after that time will be the best time to contact them. Good luck!

Have you paddled the Castle river? The flows are up on that stretch of river today.

Middle Fork got thrown by a brother who thinks helping move single girls is more important than kayaking, so we'll be heading out for Belly River from Cardston at 3:30 pm Saturday afternoon. Those who are interested in going can either meet at my place or the put in at Belly just off Highway 5. My place is 322 4th Ave West, on the SW corner of the temple. You should be able to see "Crusty" the Honda Wagovan with a few boats on top... that should give us away.

I am probably in, and Clay may come too. What time do you expect to put on river? We may have to meet you at the put-in

We'll put in around 4 pm. It'll be great to have you along.

Regarding you rprevious question on Castle:

The Bros and I pretty much stuck to Upper St. last year. I got in a run on Lower St with Chris and loved it. Every river is a new river for us, but we are all about new experiences... I just have to pass it through the wife and kids first :-).

I am picking up a demo boat from the new paddling shop in town. So you might get to give it a try. What kind of boat are you interested in?

Belly was great. The first surf waves were a blast, and Chris has put in a lot of work to build up the eddy wall to make room for quite a few boaters waiting to surf. We were able to clear some deadfall to make the short run safer. We also had many opportunities to work on our rolls :-). The weather was perfect, and the water wasn't all that cold. If you weren't there, you missed out. Sorry.

Mark was talking of taking us on Castle next weekend, and I am sure I'll get out to the Belly again early in the week.

Happy paddling!

A couple of us are going out surfing Tuesday late afternoon or early evening at the Belly again, rain or shine. I'll post a time and place tomorrow morning (probably around 4:30 or 5 from my place).

Until then...

We'll leave for Belly from my place at 4:15 pm (or at Belly put-in at 4:45 pm). There are 4 of us so far, but there is plenty of room in the eddy for more :-) All are welcome.
