TRIPS MAY 26 - 31

Hey everyone the flows are still pretty high, but they are coming down a little bit, but still remain high. So expect some squirly water and squirly eddie lines in your regular river runs, but if you are going out this week let us know and lets have some fun. But remember to be safe!

We're probably in for some paddling on Saturday - something not too complicated and we might do a double run, once in the raft with the kids and then a kayak run. Maybe the upper St. Mary??

Claudia and I are probably interested in paddling Saturday or Sunday as well.

We have done the Upper St-Mary with Matthew last weekend and it was very fast!
We were more thinking about doing a section of the upper Crowsnest this weekend.

Would that interest anyone? We are open to other option, but you had prefer to do something different of last week.

I was personally thinking upper St. Mary's or the Pincher Creek area castle canyon or elsewhere, but I will find out, but it will probably be an early morning to be back in Lethbridge around 4 or 5 for a family event.

We're gonna do a family float (raft & kayaks) on the upper St. Mary mid-day Saturday (put-in around 11 am) and we may paddle Willow Creek on Sunday (something unusual while the water's still up). Willow Creek should be grade II+ with small ledges and boulder gardens (up to class III) in a sandstone canyon - about 10 km float - fairly near Willow Creek Provincial Park, west of Claresholm (the run is in Stuart Smith's book and in Burhmann and Young's canoeing book).

Rory - some beginner trips should be happening soon - flows are coming down but water's still cold.

Hope everyone enjoyed the continuing good flows. Still lots (!) of snow-pack and we should be in for many more weeks of good paddling.

On Saturday, we arrived at the Upper St. Mary just after Janson's group came off. We enjoyed the 65 cms and agreed with Janson that the top wave at Blender was most excellent (worth the trip just for that wave).

Chatted with Hubert who reported an excellent trip Saturday with upper medium flows on the Livingstone into Upper Oldman run (about 70 cms).

We did run Willow Creek on Sunday - weather to the north was drier. We posted a few pic's in the ORCKA-wiki.
