Oh wonderous blog-master, might the listing as 'Beginner' be misleading? Judging by the responses, the trips would probably be intermediate (grade II with rapids up to III). I'm not sure what phrases might be better - maybe just, 'Trips-A' and 'Trips-B' - ?? ... or perhaps Trips-Monkeys and Trips-Whimps ...

Check out the beginner listings up to May 6th. There are some plans there for a paddle on the 9th on Belly. It is not a beginner paddle. It is for intermediate paddlers. With the water a little higher, it is pushy, and there is a triple feature that makes for a dangerous swim (class III). That particular feature can be portaged, and the rest of the river is class II stuff.

Stew, I'm not sure I know a good way to clarify either, but the monkey trips thing sounds pretty good to me. We might have to find a better name for us "whimps," though.

It might not be a bad idea to add an intermediate trips post, but an "intermediate disclaimer" to a trip like this might do the trick for now (I hope the corrections I made to this comment help clarify). I put this trip here because it is class II with a class III rapid that can be portaged, and the hope is to draw intermediate paddlers who might not check out advanced trips very often. Thanks for drawing out the clarification, Stew.

What time did you want to go?

Any time is good for me, so long as it's not first thing in the morning. If you guys have no other plans, i think it'd be best to be on the river around 12:30 1 to enjoy the best of the sun. Are you all driving down from lethbridge? my cell is 315-0114.

I know that Craig and Chris Andrews are heading out to the Crowsnest this afternoon and for those of you who haven't run that section below the Falls, it's a very nice grade II run with a II+ ledge and fairly good surfing when it's up. Super convenient shuttle - I'd recommend it. It usually only runs for a few weeks and right now it should be quite good.

We're going at 5:00. Crappy, but Jon has to work until then. We went at 6:00 yesterday and it was still pretty warm. If you want to still come, give me a call 330-6835. I'll be in Magrath already but Matt and Jon are coming from Lethbridge.
