Help at River Rendezvous

The ORCKA Executive is looking for help running the breakfast at the River Rendezvous this year. If you can help on the Saturday or Sunday, please let Clayton or Mark I. know as soon as possible. Money earned from this event is used for equipment maintenance and purchasing, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks to all those who can help!

Mark Iwaasa

What time are we doing breakfast?
I am hoping to come out for Saturday and Sunday and thus can mostlikely help out.
I lost Chucks info. What time should people be there on Saturday moring to hook up with groups? If I remember it was normally around 8:30. Is this still the case with breakfast. Who is all going from Lethbridge and what sections are you intending too paddle?

The info is here.

I think we normally start breakfast at around 7:00. That gets us going by 7:30 when people normally start showing up. Clay is in charge of getting supplies. He is organizing things for Sat. when I am helping out. Mark I. is running things on Sunday.

The flows look great. I was at the canyon yesterday, but missed chuck's group. Surf and everything looked quite nice.

I'm not sure if I will be out there this weekend. IF I am able to go, then it will probably be Saturday, and I will try to make it out in time to help with the breakfast. Does the breakfast help need to be there at 7:00 or 8:00??

Shooting for an 8:00 breakfast is fine for me. We have to start 1/2 hour early to get the sausages, etc going. ALso it takes a few minutes to set up. I will try to get there for 7:00 (7:15) but other volunteers probably aren't needed till 7:30 - 7:45.

The flows look great!

Yes, I left a message with your wife last night. Ronna, Ryan (her brother) and Di and Wilco and all coming down to the belly. It is rocking. Ronna is leaving at 12:30 from Lethbridge ronna.wright @ lethsd.ab.ca She may be a little late. Wilco and Di are leaving at 1:30. wilco.tymensen @ horizon.ab.ca If you can get off, try and car pool with them. They are all coming down just for the day. The belly is SOO fun at these levels.

I may be in for today if I can hitch a ride with Wilco and Di. This would be a way better option for me than going Saturday. Chris, happen to have a ph.# for Wilco? maybe email it to me if you do.

How was the weekend?

Thanks for all the help this weekend. Breakfast got better and better as the weekend wore on. We had a good grease fire on Sat. that took a number of minutes before it was put out. We gradually figured out how to handle the tempermental grill a bit better. Crowd numbers were high. It seems like 4 people, with an extra coleman stove for eggs works great. Also, having the sausages cooked before the crowds get there made a huge difference.

As for the rivers. There were two interesting moments in the groups I went with. One boater got his tail end stuck on an undercut. He ended up ripping his skirt apart with his hands to get out. Another boater got stuck in the last whole in the canyon on Carbondale. He was tumbling in there for quite a while. He didn't see the throw bag that hit him. Eventually though, he got out.
